A former openpitmine, now worked as an underground mine.

Reopened in 2022 after being inactive for 19 years.

A Zn-Pb-Cu mine featuring a suite of Zn-Pb-Cu-Fesulphides with accessory Ga, Ge, Mo, W & V mineralization indolomite andschistdolomite series of the Kundelunguian.

Located just outside the southern portion of the Katanga (Shaba) Cu zone/belt, 32 km SW ofLubumbashi.

At depth, the deposit extends intoZambia.

Note on the mineral list:Rutile coming from"Kinyanfumbe, Eastern Province, Zambia", has been erroneously labelled as coming from here.

Type Locality:
Description: The first specimens were recovered in the 1970's but due to too less specimens, the specie was not reported. The same collector ( Joseph Lhoest ) from the early kipushites, briefed J. M. Pendeville about the locality where he found them. Then in 1988, he was succesfull and found the locality and cleaned the pocket out. The specimens were found just underneath shaft 1, along with reichenbachite and pseudomalachite.

Description: Renierite was found in two germanium-rich zones at Kipushi. The first at a depth between -275 and -400 meters and a second one between the levels -725 and -775. Deeper or between these levels, the mineral was very rare and absent under -975 meters.
