Porphyry deposit located in the Middle–Lower Yangtze River Metallogenic Belt (MLYMB) of eastern China.

Chating deposit is located in the Xuancheng ore district and covered by the Cretaceous volcanic rocks. The magmatic system that host the deposit comprises pre-ore amphibole diorite porphyry, ore-bearing quartz diorite porphyry, and post-ore diorite porphyry and lamprophyre, hosted by Triassic carbonate rocks. The pipe-shaped ore-bearing quartz diorite porphyry developed zoned alteration, including sodic-calcic, potassic, phyllic, propylitic, argillic and skarn alteration from ore center to wall rocks; the mineralization mainly occurs in large volumes of hydrothermal breccia that have potassic and phyllic alteration.
