A trap rock quarry in both diabase and hornfels.

World-famous for exceptional hydroxyapophyllite-(K) crystals. Known for exceptional hydroxyapophyllite-(K) crystals. Meier and Kearns (2011) determined that much — if not all — of the northern Virginia specimens are uniformly near end-member hydroxyapophyllite-(K) and verified its occurrence at this locality. (Lance Kearns, personal communication, 2011).

Owned by Luck Stone Corporation since 1938 and has been used as stone quarry from the 1920s. The quarry comprises a North Pit and South Pit (being bisected by the Lee Highway).
