Located 135 kilometres east of Derby, one kilometre north-east of the Kimberley Pearl and Storm quarries, bordering either side of the Gibb River Road.

Owned and operated by Black Swan Stone Industries Pty Ltd from the mid 1980's to mid 1990's, then C. Sim.

The quarry is in the centre of a 50 metre high north-west trending ridge, of up to 30 metres thick extremely fine grained black dolerite dyke intruding the Paleoproterozoic Lennard Granite.

From 1988 to the early 1990's Black Swan quarried a large amount of black granite blocks from the upper portion of the ridge, which were then stockpiled at the base. The quarry is in a cleft of the 50 metre high dolerite dyke. About 150 large blocks remain at the stockpile.

It is fine grained dolerite with sparse plagioclase phenocrysts, sub-opthitic pyroxene, rare olivine, oxide, chlorite, and apatite.

The material polishes to a jet black mirror like finish, much of it exported to Japan to be used as headstones. Another example can be seen as paving cobbles in King Street central Perth.
