A gold mine.

Traces of historic mining activity are abundant in the area, but the relatively modern exploitation of the Um Rus gold deposit took place in the early 20th century (1900–1907), when a few thousands of ounces of Au were extracted. The Um Rus intrusion is a circular body (∼5.8 km2) of tonalite-granodiorite composition that cuts gabbroic rocks. The latter are surrounded by foliated island arc metabasalt, meta-andesite, and meta-andesitic tuffs and agglomerates.
