Ordinary Chondrite, very low-iron (LL3.6; S3; W0)
Fall, 28 Feb 1857

After detonations, two stones (60.8 kg, 16.8 kg) were recovered. Parnallee is a shocked and moderately unequilibrated chondrite. Chondrule varieties include porphyritic and radial olivine and/or pyroxene rich types (OP, POP, PP, RP) up to 3 mm in diameter. Some olivines are unzoned, but zoning is particularly evident in pyroxenes both in matrix and in somewhat exotic inclusions. Small grains of irregular Fe-Ni metal and troilite are present as minor accessories. Mosaicism in olivine is indicative of moderate shock. Phyllo-silicates are indicative of early aqueous alterations.
