Carbonaceous Chondrite (CO3.1; S1; W0)

The Ornans (CO3.3) meteorite fell on 11 July 1868. A single stone of ~6 kg mass — which broke into two pieces — was recovered. Ornans is the prototype for the CO (Ornans-like) Carbonaceous Chondrites. Ornans was the first of the 6 CO meteorites which have been observed to fall before October 2013. However, a large number of (unobserved) 'finds' have been recovered from Antarctica and other places.
