Pegmatite occurrence in biotite bearing paragneiss of the Gföhl unit, situated about 500 m Northwest of the village Maigen. Discovered in 1987, it gained importance as one of the very few pegmatites in Lower Austria yielding coloured tourmalines, including the largest elbaite crystals found in Austria. Excavations took place in January and October 1988, with permission of the land owner.

Note: the pale pink tourmalines ("rubellites") are usually zoned, with elbaite in the core and olenite in the periphery (Ertl, 1995).
