Several joint venture mines are situated north-west of the village of Lisu-konzan (Lisu settlement). In this area mostly blue sapphires and fewer rubies are found in the alluvium. Most of these gems are opaque, medium-to-low quality suitable for cabochons up to 5 carats. Better quality faceting-grade rubies are often found. Small size star rubies and star blue sapphires are frequently found with moonstone, quartz, aquamarine, goshenite and lapis-lazuli. - Ted Themelis (2008) Gems and Mines of Mogok
