Pb-Zn-Ag mining district (most important deposit is the Rara Fortuna). Hydrothermal veins filling fractures in Precambrian metamorphic rocks of the Sierras Pampeanas.

The El Guaico mining district covers an area of approximately 10km2 and is centred approximately 10 km NW of La Higuera and 22 km SW of Villa de Soto.
