A dimension stone quarry working the Ordovician Harrison Gneiss (a meta-diorite). All minerals are rock-forming and fine-grained. It appears on an 1868 map of Greenwich as one of 5 quarries along the west side of Byram Cove. The home of John Voorhis was immediately to its west. Opened in 1833, it eventually became the largest quarry of this group, measuring 150 m N-S by 60 m E-W. It was abandoned by 1908, but still exists immediately SE of Interstate 95.
