A gold placer deposit (19th century) derived from a contact zone of alkali-syenites/ REE deposit, 14 km N of the city of Kyshtym. The Mochalin Log is an intermittent or seasonal stream with dry bed periods (“log” in Russian means “large gentle ravine”). In 1861 the first recorded REE mineral,“kyshtymoparisite” was published. Unusual alluvial pebbles and nodules containing REE minerals were abundant on the mine dumps,

The photo shows dissakisite-(La) as the black rim associated with britholite-(Ce) outside a bastnasite-(La) monograin.The at this locality reach The locality is a placer deposit that has been worked for gold; the REE pebbles originate from a metasomatically influenced border zone of the Kyshtym Alkaline massif.
