Initially placer deposit of piezo-optic quartz near Astaf'evovillage. Later quartz vens were mined by quarry Yuzhnyi near which was grow Yuzhnyi settlement (now joined with Astaf'evo village). The deposit was mined by three quarries and underground mines. Now these quarries are abandoned and from beginning of 90th continue to flooding by water. Most material of the locality comes from Yuzhnyi quarry.
