(Otjihorongo Reserve)

Calc silicate minerals near Ais (settlement) and Ais (granitic dome). Located 35km north of Uis. Previously recorded as near Otjihorongo (216 km away)
Note: 'Otjihorongo Reserve' is an older name for Otjihorongo area.

The dome consists of volcanic metarhyolites and ignimbrites of the Naupoort Formation which are overlain by biotite schists, calc silicates and marbles of the Okotjize and Orusewa Formations. The periphery of the dome is intruded by granite that contains mega-xenoliths of the country rock and these xenoliths are host to the stratabound scheelite-skarn mineralisation.
