Sediment-hosted massive sulphide Cu-Zn-Pb-Ba deposit.

Started as a lead-zinc-silver mine almost 1,000 years ago. Closed in 1988.

Owned by Preussag Metall AG.

The Rammelsberg ore mine for the extraction of non-ferrous metals on the mountain of the same name, Rammelsberg (Harz), is located south of the core town of Goslar in the Goslar district of Lower Saxony.

The mine was closed in 1988 after more than 1,000 years of almost continuous mining; The Rammelsberg visitor mine has been a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1992 and, since an expansion in 2010, has been called the Rammelsberg mine, the old town of Goslar and the Upper Harz water management.

The Rammelsberg is part of the UNESCO World Heritage Route in the Harz Mountains.
