The NYF-type pegmatite field Mukinbudin is within the Murchison Terrane of the Archaean Yilgarn Craton.
Mukinbudin Feldspar Mine and Quartz Mine Operations are located 7 km North West of Mukinbudin town.

The pegmatites are found in post-tectonic biotite adamellite or adamellite, and these quartz and feldspar rich pegmatites are classed in Cerny's allanite-monzanite NYF class of rare elements pegmatites. Mining in the area started in the early 1970's, but the pegmatite field was only properly studied in the 1990's, mainly for Rare Earth Elements.
