Quartz vein-type gold deposit.

Tonggou is located along the axis of the Qishuping syncline, which is also hosted in amphibolite, biotite gneiss, and migmatite of the Taihua Group. It was originally a small deposit, and after decades of exploration, the total gold resources have exceeded 46 t with an average grade of 9.6 g/t. Thirteen auriferous quartz vein orebodies are mainly developed along EW-trending faults, and the veins narrow toward the west. These gold orebodies are 500 to 1000 m long and 1 to 5 m wide. The lodes S302 and S303 are most outstanding auriferous quartz veins in Tonggou and even Xiaoqinling district, each with > 20 t gold resource and an average grade of 20 g/t.

Tonggou and Chucha-Luanshi are actually two independent deposits, but they are located in close proximity and show essentially the same mineralization (Tian et al., 1994).
