Discovered on the shore of Kerr Lake in 1904 and operated by J.A.Jacobs of Montreal until 1905. Kerr Lake Mining Co. next operated the mine until 1928, followed by various other companies. The mine was shut down in 1964. Many of the silver veins extended into Kerr Lake and onto Crown Reserve property. It was necessary to pump out Kerr Lake to mine them.
In 1967 Hi Ho Silver Mines Ltd. pumped out Kerr lake and recovered silver from waste rock left on the lake bottom from earlier mining operations. That waste averaged 6oz/ton.
Total recorded production from mining (1905-1948) was 28,500,000 oz.Ag; 650,000 Lbs. Co; and 1800 lbs. Cu.
