The Humboldt Mining Company was first organized in 1853 and worked the Ashbed Lode. The company sunk three shafts including one over 300 feet deep; however, no production was recorded as work only lasted one year before it was abandoned. The mine was reorganized in 1863 as the Humboldt Copper Company and worked the Arnold Ashbed until the mine closed in 1900. No copper production was recorded from this mine. Specimens of copper, prehnite, and pumpellyite can be found on the poor rock piles.
