This small working is most probably the remains of some ancient mining effort that proved unsuccessful.
It extends about 15 meters into the host rock and is noted for the many efflorescent sulfate minerals occurring at this site. As opposed to most mines in the greater Lavrion area it has not been given a number, so the name “Sulfate locality” was chosen, as this best describes the working.

Other outcrops with efflorescent sulphates can be seen in the surrounding area.

Note on the mineral list: Nearly all "copiapite group" specimens from this locality are magnesiocopiapite. Only a few specimens containing abundant melanterite have been identified as ferricopiapite, while aluminocopiapite and zincocopiapite are extremely rare (and tiny). Copiapite (the mineral, not the group) has been identified on a handful of specimens that contain voltaite.
