The fifth entry, Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales, is the most divertingly enjoyable since the first. A professionally crafted brew of action, slapstick and supernatural mumbo-jumbo, it’s less likely to spur timepiece glances than did the last few bloated installments.

Waste enough of the audience’s time with the adventures of a couple of uncharismatic dinguses, and Depp’s stage-drunk, innuendo-laced, cabaret-emcee shtick starts to creep back into being funny.
Scodelario, of the Maze Runner films and Andrea Arnold's Wuthering Heights, is just about the only member of the cast who seems to believe she's expected to be more than a thin generic functionary or flamboyant scene-stealer.
"Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales" (2017) (or "Salazar's Revenge") is the least memorable film in the series tied in this category with "At Stranger Tides". The reason for this is the plot, which at fifth movie felt tiresome and simply unnecessary. Everything about this movie screams - not necessary. But at its running time 1 h 55 min and while it lasted, "Dead Men Tell No Tales" wasn't boring - it was an OK flick to say the best when watching it on some boring evening.Special effects were pretty good, the crew of Salazar looked very unique, yet i would wish it would have been explained of what is the curse they were on. I liked the opening sequence with the bank - it was good and pretty impressive setting. Later it become "as usual" kind of flick, where someone chases someone and they are all after something. Performances were forgettable as is this movie - Johnny Depp is just a costume and make up in here - there isn't any signs of great performance as Captain Jack Sparrow as it was in a first movie for which he was nominated for Oscar - here is clearly just for a big paycheck. The great Geoffrey Rush tried his best as always in this movie - he literally gave best performance here with the material he was given. There is also a storyline about two young couple which are going for their goals in this movie, yet they are so underdeveloped, that you forget about them as soon as movie ends. Overall, "Dead Men Tell No Tales" isn't a bad movie, but its not a good one either. It is an absolutely unnecessary sequel in a series that should have ended at "At World's End". If Disney will ever try to go forward with the series, they need to rebooted it completely. They should start with the basics and first of all make an involving story first. All in all "Dead Men Tell No Tales" is an OK (at the best) but highly forgettable flick.
How unfortunate and predictable this turned out to be. When I say "It should've been just a trilogy and not a saga" I truly meant it. I only expected a near 3 hour epic conclusion at best. The only strength, however, is the reuniting of Orlando and Kiera. But overall, a sad hint of potential.
