The “John Wick” saga has changed and evolved throughout the years, For this film, there is no denying how it has made Chad Stahelski one of our best action filmmakers, and how the franchise gave Keanu yet another career-redefining role. It’s been a wild ride, and one of the best and most consistent movie series ever. No matter where the roads lead, however, “I’m thinking John Wick is back.”
“John Wick: Chapter 4" (2023) played out the way one could expect from this franchise in term of plausibility. It is unrealistic in every possible way, yet its made in a way that it looks real. And this is the biggest strength of Chapter 4. You have to leave all plausibility at the door before watching it. Because when the movie starts - you are in for one unforgettable **** only Chapter 4 is the best from the 4 movies now, it also puts to shame all action films I've seen in many years. Its incredible movie on purely moviemaking terms. Stunt team, choreography of fights, chases and kinetic cinematography are all put in a way I don't think I haven't seen in Hollywood action film yet. I won't spoil anything, but one particular action set piece near the end left me with my jaw dropped - the way it was filmed looked kinda like a video game but so amazing at the same time. Creators really outdone themselves with this film. Action aside (and there is more than enough of it), I loved how confidently this movie was directed. It’s like they have learned so many during first 3 films and put it in here. All of the supporting characters including main villain are so memorable that they could easily get a standalone movies.Overall, "John Wick: Chapter 4" is the best action film I've seen in many years. Reminded me of "Raid 2" but with bigger scale and way bigger budget. This one has to be seen on big screen - it is an incredible action film. And running time almost 3 hours didn't felt draggy - it’s superbly paced. One of the very best films of the year so far.
Even when it drags — 169 minutes is a lot of time to fill, even for this masterful crew — the film gamely mixes comedy, action, and drama into one truly satisfying cocktail.
There is simply and once again Reeves, the axis who centers this franchise with his grave sincerity, beatific glow and mesmerizing, rooted fighting style, with its heavy-footed solidity and surprising suppleness. No matter what happens, nothing ever feels as poignantly at stake here as Reeves’s own ravaged, beautiful, aging body.
Even in the hail of bullets, shrieking needle drops, and blinding lighting effects, John Wick: Chapter 4 still works as a cohesive, linear film with a strangely philosophical heart.
John Wick Chapter 4 has its high points, including a well-earned ending, but it’s characterized by an exhaustive repetitiveness that diminishes what was so good and unique about the first two installments of the series. The time has come to put John Wick to rest.
Those who appreciated the original for its brutal, sinewy agility have another thing coming: a lumbering, stultifying gargantua of a film willing to kill everything except its darlings.
John Wick 4 is basically what you would expect from a John Wick movie, there is plenty of action and plenty of really good visuals. This unfortunately gets old because seeing John Wick take out a group of guys over and over again for hours on end gets old by the fourth movie; a lack of a deep plot accentuates that boredom. If all you want is more John Wick for over two and a half hours then this movie is for otherwise there are probably other movies that you would find more enjoyable.
lets make a film that has a cult like following that prints us money and put zero effort into it this movie blows in comparison to the older john wick movies this movie is so dumb I literally died laughing outloud when john got kicked down a single flight of stairs then proceeds to roll down 20 more flights for what seems like 10 minutes it was so stupid. This movie is awful compared to the originals. I would write a better more in depth review but this movie is bad and I cant believe the reviews are this good. Have you ever been to a movie in the theater and paid $50 for you and your partner and felt like u should have lit that money on fire instead or invested it in something that actually makes sense... NOT TO MENTION THE TIME INVESTMENT I WILL NEVER GET BACK MY 2 HOURS AND 49 MINUTES OF MY LIFE. That's even more upsetting than the money.
Another crap movie full of "style" = no logic, a lot of snobism, artificial behaviour, ridiculous "traditions/rules". In addition the story is superficial. Yes, I was annoyed. 2 hours and 49 minutes for this movie...what a joke.Donnie Yen as Caine was good.
