Executive Office of Education (EOE)
- Patrick Tutwiler Secretary of Education
From birth to post-secondary education, the Executive Office of Education works to connect all Massachusetts residents with a high-quality education regardless of their circumstance, zip code, or socioeconomic status.
Education Initiatives
Our core values drive how we approach our work to stabilize, heal, and transform the education system from birth through college for all the Commonwealth’s students, educators, and families.
Advance Equity and Inclusion
We acknowledge the relationships between the legacy of discriminatory public policies leading to educational, economic, and social disparities that persist in society. We stand as advocates to dismantle barriers and practices and develop policies to create pathways to excellence and maximized potential for all students.
Maintain a Holistic Perspective
In developing policy and strategy, we maintain a perspective that a broad array of factors impact learning and development, including but not limited to mental and physical well-being and social determinants (food security, housing stability, safety).
Embrace Collaboration
We value and embrace the perspective, experience, and expertise of members of the communities we serve and, internally, among our colleagues. We are stronger when we listen, then smarter when we share. We engage as equal partners to achieve progress.
Champion Innovation
We champion innovation and excellence, not letting yesterday’s solutions dictate our response to today’s challenges. We embrace change. We will welcome bold, new ideas and will source input and insights from a broad constituency.
Center Fulfillment
Just as we bring our passion for student success to this work, we also bring our encouragement of one another as colleagues. Powered by joy and resilience, we celebrate achievements and confront setbacks together. We bring a growth mindset, seeking to learn and expand our own skills and knowledge, while also supporting the development of our team members.
Who we serve
EOE works with the Department of Early Education and Care, Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (K-12), Department of Higher Education, and the state's 29 public colleges and universities to connect programs and policies across the entire public education system.
From infant care to graduate studies, EOE can help you find the educational resources that you need.
