Variant ofBandit

Zeus Guys[1] are relatives ofBandits that appear inSuper Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island, its Game Boy Advance version, andYoshi's New Island. They are named afterZeus, the Greek god of lightning, possibly due to their ability to charge up balls of energy to attack from a distance.

Zeus Guys are usually found in pairs, charging and firing balls of energy towardsYoshi, with these projectiles traveling quickly in a horizontal straight line, able to pass through walls. While doing this, they slowly inch towards their target, jumping when necessary and breaking any obstacles in their path. Once Yoshi is a short distance away from them, the Zeus Guys would attempt to kick or punch Yoshi, though they would still occasionally charge up and fire balls of energy, especially — but not necessarily — if Yoshi cannot actually be reached (for example, if Yoshi is on the other side of an unbreakable wall, or is standing on a platform right on top of the Zeus Guys). Yoshi cannot swallow them, and jumping on them or throwing anegg at them only stuns them temporarily. To defeat them, Yoshi must freeze and shatter them with ablue watermelon, spit fire obtained from swallowing ared watermelon or a consumable fiery enemy like aFlamer Guy, or use anAnywhere POW. In certain occasions, if Yoshi moves far enough from them, then returns within a certain distance from the Zeus Guys (regardless of whether they respawned in their original location or remained where they are last seen), they can be observed in their default pose and idle animation, shifting back and forth as they have lost track of their target, only resuming their assault if Yoshi moves one step towards them.

Profiles[edit]

Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island /Yoshi's Island: Super Mario Advance 3[edit]

  • Shogakukan guide: 空手のポーズでパチパチと弾を撃ってくる。ふめばしばらく気絶するが、ファイアを使わないと倒せない。[2] (It shoots crackling projectiles at you in a karate pose. If you step on it, it will be stunned for a while, but you can't defeat it unless you use fire.)
  • Player's Guide:Put up yer flame balls! This pugilist sends great balls of fire scorching Yoshi's way. Barbecue, anyone?[1]
  • Shogakukan guide (Game Boy Advance version): タマゴを当てると後ろに転がり、後続の敵をやっつけることができる。タマゴがないときは舌でつっついて追いやったり、ころがりくんを当てて倒そう。[3] (It is in a karate pose and shoots crackling projectiles. If you step on it, it will faint, but you can't defeat it without fire.)

Yoshi's New Island[edit]

  • Shogakukan guide: キックやパンチ、さらに、離れた位置から気功弾を水平に飛ばして攻擊してくる。1回踏んで気絶させ、そのあとヒップドロップをして擊破しよう。[4] (They attack with kicks, punches, and even by sendingqigong projectiles horizontally from a distance. Step on it once to stun it, and then Hip Drop it to destroy it.)
