Yux are X-shaped, barrier-using creatures created by theX-Naut army appearing inPaper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door along with itsNintendo Switch remake.

History[edit]

Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door[edit]

PMTTYD X-Naut Fortress Yux Lab.png

They are first encountered inthe Great Tree where they are used as security by theX-Nauts. A smaller number appear later in theX-Naut Fortress on themoon, where they can be seen behind glass alongside the strongerZ-Yuxes andX-Yuxes, which are used as guards there. One normal Yux can be fought in the X-Naut Fortress when entering battle against aX-Naut PhD in the Yux lab.

In battle, Yux produce aMini-Yux from within themselves at the end of every turn; the Mini-Yux sustains a barrier around the Yux that renders it invincible. The Yux attack with a ring beam that pierces defense; even Damage Dodge badges have no effect on the damage they deal. This means that a Yux's attack will always deal at least one damage unless the target performs a successfulSuperguard.

If a Yux or a Mini-Yux is notTattled on during Chapter 2, its Tattle can be obtained inProfessor Frankly's trash can, despite being able to fight another in the X-Naut Fortress.

During the battle againstGrodus, he uses a type of Yux calledGrodus X, which acts more like a Mini-Yux.

Super Paper Mario[edit]

InSuper Paper Mario, normal Yux do not appear, though similar enemy called aBarribad appears alongside a few of its own variations. Additionally, one of theSammer Guy warriors of Sammer's Kingdom is namedYowling Yux in tribute to the enemy.
