"World 3 Map (Water Land)"[1] is a musical theme composed byKoji Kondo forSuper Mario Bros. 3, where it plays in the overworld map forWater Land, the thirdworld of the game.
A similar melody has appeared in theThe Legend of Zelda franchise as the "Fairy Fountain" theme. However, in a 2004 interview with Kondo, he claimed that the similarity between the two themes is coincidental.[2]
Arrangements of the bassline are often used for beach-themedMario Kart course themes such as "Koopa Beach" fromSuper Mario Kart and "Cheep Cheep Lagoon" fromMario Kart 7.
