- —Mario collecting a Wonder Seed,Super Mario Bros. Wonder
Wonder Seeds, also spelledWonderseeds,[1] are collectable items inSuper Mario Bros. Wonder. In their debut game, they form a reward for fulfilling certain tasks, such as completing a course or challenge, and collecting them is required to open up some courses. They feature brown coats which cover their lower and rear areas; the exposed portion of the embryo features a pair of white eyes, a green shoot, and brightly coloredcotyledons, with iridescent diamond markings similar to those found on aWonder Flower.
History[edit]
Super Mario series[edit]
Super Mario Bros. Wonder[edit]
InSuper Mario Bros. Wonder, each standard level contains at least two Wonder Seeds, with one always rewarded to players for completing a level and rescuing aPoplin, while another is found after triggering the level'sWonder Effect, which the Wonder Seed ends upon being collected. Levels with a secret exit contain a third Wonder Seed, while levels without a Wonder Flower (Break Time!s, Search Parties, Badge Challenges, Wiggler Races, KO Arenas, most Poplin houses andThe Final-Final Test Badge Marathon),flying battleships, palaces andOperation Poplin Rescue contain only one.The Final Battle! Bowser's Rage Stage is the only level with no Wonder Seeds. Completing the final level in each world rewards the player with aRoyal Seed, a larger and more powerful type of Wonder Seed.
Wonder Seeds are used to defeatWonder Piranhas blocking access to levels in the overworld, functioning similarly toStar Medals inSuper Mario 3D Land andGreen Stars inSuper Mario 3D World. They also bear a similarity toSuper Mario Odyssey'sPower Moons, being able to be bought inshops and changing their color depending on the region within the game. The Wonder Seed's color matches their world'sWonder Flower andWow Bud: blue forPipe-Rock Plateau, cyan forFluff-Puff Peaks, pink forShining Falls, yellow for theSunbaked Desert, green for theFungi Mines, purple forDeep Magma Bog, orange for thePetal Isles, and white for theSpecial World.
After a Wonder Seed is collected, it becomes gray and transparent when re-entering the level. With the exception of the Special World, 100flower coins are awarded for collecting all Wonder Seeds in each world. There are a total of 225 Wonder Seeds in the game, and collecting all seeds will award one of sixmedals to the player's current save file.
