Winged Clouds,^[1] orQuestion Mark Clouds,^[2] are objects inSuper Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island (andits GBA reissue),Yoshi's Island DS, andYoshi's New Island. They appear in nearly everylevel, and when aYoshi hits a Winged Cloud with any projectile, such as aYoshi's Egg, it disappears and reveals its contents or triggers an effect. Winged Clouds can contain objects such asflowers, fivestars,extra lives, and! Switches, but they sometimes also create stairs or bridges or makecoins appear instead of revealing an item. There are even Winged Clouds that containBandits. When being hit, a Bandit pops out and chases a Yoshi around to stealBaby Mario. Due to their function, Winged Clouds are consideredYoshi's Island's equivalent to? Blocks. There also exists aSpecial Item inSuper Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island called aWinged Cloud Maker, which turns enemies into Winged Clouds.

Winged Clouds reappear inYoshi's Woolly World andPoochy & Yoshi's Woolly World, acting mostly as they do in previous games, but they drophearts instead of stars since these games have different health mechanics from theYoshi's Island series. Winged Clouds can be found hanging from strings inLair of the Smooch Spiders, but in these instances, they lack their wings.

Yoshi's Crafted World also has Winged Clouds, which act the same as they do in previous games. There is aTime Cloud variant that flips the stage when hit.

Winged Clouds appear in volume 14 ofSuper Mario-kun, also providing items when they are hit, such as ablue watermelon. Unlike in the games, however,Yoshi does not need to hit them with an egg to make them spawn items.

A Winged Cloud appears in theYoshi's Island course, which appears in theBooster Course Pass DLC forMario Kart 8 Deluxe and inMario Kart Tour. Racers can hit the Winged Cloud while gliding to temporarily pop it, causing a bridge to appear. Hitting it inMario Kart Tour also grants bonus points.
