History[edit]
Super Mario 3D World /Super Mario 3D World + Bowser's Fury[edit]
InSuper Mario 3D World andSuper Mario 3D World + Bowser's Fury, Walleyes appear as rare enemies, replacing Wallops fromSuper Mario 3D Land. Walleyes move from side to side in an attempt to keep the player from walking past them. Contact with the spikes on their sides and tops causes damage, but their fronts and backs are safe to touch. Walleyes can be temporarily dazed by a projectile or a claw attack, and they can only be destroyed byLucky Cat Mario orWhite Tanooki Mario. However, inSuper Mario 3D World + Bowser's Fury only,White Cat Mario can also defeat them. Walleyes appear in only three levels—theWorld 6 levelTy-Foo Flurries, theWorld Star levelThe Great Goal Pole, and theWorld Crown levelMystery House Marathon.
Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker[edit]
Walleyes return as somewhat uncommon enemies inCaptain Toad: Treasure Tracker and its enhancedNintendo Switch andNintendo 3DSportsof the same name, serving the same purpose as inSuper Mario 3D World. The only way to defeat them is by using anInvincibility Mushroom, and they provide the player threecoins upon defeat. In theCaptain Toad: Treasure Tracker for theWii U and 3DS and the base game ofCaptain Toad: Treasure Tracker for the Switch, Walleyes appear in only three courses—theEpisode 1 courseWalleye Tumble Temple, theEpisode 2 courseSpinwheel Cog Ruins, and theEpisode 3 courseRazzle-Dazzle Slider. However, in the enhanced Switch port only, they also appear in theSpecial Episode, where they appear in only one course—Mine Cart Scalding Scaffold.
Minecraft[edit]
In the premade world for the Super Mario Mash-Up Pack inMinecraft, small 3D pixel art resembling a Walleye appears in the snow area.

Naming[edit]
Walleyes' name is a portmanteau of "wall", due to how they look and behave like walls, and possibly "wall-eyed", a condition that causes a person's eyes to drift apart from each other.
