VB Mario Land,^[2] also known asMario Adventure,^[3] is a canceled game of theSuper Mario franchise that was originally going to be released for theVirtual Boy. A single-level playable demo was unveiled at the WinterConsumer Electronics Show 1995 in Las Vegas.^[4]

The game was to be a two-dimensional side-scrolling game that would also use three-dimensional perspectives, such as moving between the background and foreground of the level. It would starMario as the main character, using classicSuper Mario Bros.–style elements such aspipes,Koopa Troopas,Goombas,Jumping Piranha Plants, and? Blocks. Although the story was not revealed, a largeWario-like figure that functioned similarly to aThwomp was seen in the playable demo. In certain areas, an overhead view was displayed, much like in the game seriesThe Legend of Zelda. The first level ends at theflagpole, and Mario can be seen entering acastle.

A three-dimensional version ofMario Bros. was mentioned to be implemented intoVB Mario Land as a minigame, but it was released separately asMario Clash.^[2]
