Ubisoft Entertainment (formallyUbi Soft Entertainment Software) is a French video game company headquartered inSaint-Mandé,France. The company was founded by Christian, Claude, Gérard, Michel, and Yves Guillemot, and it has developed games from numerous franchises, includingRayman,Assassin's Creed,Just Dance, andPrince of Persia.

Ubisoft has developed and published several games forNintendo consoles. This relationship between the companies eventually led to theMario + Rabbids series, a series of games crossing over Nintendo'sSuper Mario franchise with Ubisoft'sRabbids franchise.

Mario + Rabbids series[edit]

Ubisoft has published theSuper Mario andRabbids crossover gameMario + Rabbids Kingdom Battle outside of Japan, Hong Kong, Taiwan, and South Korea, where Nintendo published the game instead, and the game has been developed by Ubisoft's Milan and Paris studios. The game has been successful commercially, becoming one of the best-selling third-party games on theNintendo Switch. This would then lead to a sequel calledMario + Rabbids Sparks of Hope, also developed by Ubisoft. The game was published by Ubisoft outside of Japan, taking over Nintendo's role as publisher in Hong Kong, Taiwan, and South Korea; Nintendo still published the game in Japan.Mario + Rabbids Sparks of Hope is compatible with Ubisoft'sUbisoft Connect service, and the Ubisoft characterRayman prominently appears in theRayman in the Phantom Show downloadable content for that game.
