- “Kee hee hee! I cast a Twister spell in the desert. If you press
as you enter the Twister, you'll be thrown skyward!”
- —A Certain Mage,Super Mario Maker 2
Twisters are wind entities inSuper Mario Maker 2. The main unit consists of a small, white sphere with eyes, and with the exception of theNew Super Mario Bros. U style, they have small hair-like protrusions around their bodies.
History[edit]
Super Mario Maker 2[edit]
Twisters debut inSuper Mario Maker 2 as course elements in the gizmo category. They hover along the ground and spin around, producing their namesakeTwister above them that can lift both the player and enemies. They can be pushed around by solid objects, such asMunchers orHard Blocks moving ontracks, and can dissipate when the white bit is crushed between two surfaces. When they reach the end of the platform they are on, they turn around and do not fall from the platform.
In some early trailer footage ofSuper Mario Maker 2, the white part of Twister had a cloudy appearance resembling aFoo with elements ofTy-foo's design.[1] This resemblance was closer in theNew Super Mario Bros. U style, where they lacked the blue cheeks and had pink lips.[2] This design seems to have been entirely overwritten, as it is not present in the final game's data.[3]
Mario Kart Live: Home Circuit[edit]
Twisters return inMario Kart Live: Home Circuit making them the firstSuper Mario Maker series-original subject to return in a separate series. They appear as obstacles inTornado Tundra and in the Blizzardenvironment, where they slow down racers that make contact with them. They retain their design from theNew Super Mario Bros. U style ofSuper Mario Maker 2.
