Twirlips[1] areenemies inSuper Mario Galaxy 2 and itsNintendo Switchport. At first glance, they appear as white bud-shaped creatures that resemble onions with two beady eyes. To attack, a Twirlip turns into a pink flower with a yellow center and quickly spins around the area like a top. While twirling, a Twirlip can be damaged only bystomping on its head, which makes the Twirlip drop acoin. In a Twirlip's bud form,Mario orLuigi can use any attack method to defeat it, which makes the Twirlip drop threeStar Bits unless stomped.Yoshi can also eat a Twirlip, but only while it is in bud form. When shot by a Star Bit from theStar Pointer, they get stunned in place for a moment. In their opened form, Twirlips can actually defeat another Twirlip when the latter is stopped by aCo-Star Luma and the two Twirlips collide.
Twirlips appear in the following list of galaxies and missions. If no mission is stated, Twirlips appear during all missions:
- Spin-Dig Galaxy ("Digga-Leg's Planet")
- Flipsville's New Digs ("Flipsville's New Digs")
- Starshine Beach Galaxy
