- “So, dude, think you're a pro pilot now, do you? Rebuild theDK statue, but beware of entering the toxic waste. TheGyrocopter will explode with the slightest touch of that green filth. Use the buttons on the walls to lower the waste, then nip in and retrieve the statue parts.”
- —In-game description forToxic Kongstruction,Donkey Kong Country 2 (Game Boy Advance)
Toxic waste (also calledAcid)[1] is an uncommon obstacle functioning similarly topoison.
Toxic waste first appears inDonkey Kong Country 2: Diddy's Kong Quest, exclusively in thelevelToxic Tower, as well as inDonkey Kong Land 2's equivalent of thesame name. Toxic waste functions identically between both appearances. The level involves having to climb a tower as it gradually fills with toxic waste, while being transformed into multipleAnimal Friends. If a player touches the toxic waste, they will take damage until they lose a life. In theGame Boy Advance version ofDonkey Kong Country 2, aFunky's Flights level calledToxic Kongstruction has theKongs swerving around in theirGyrocopter while collecting pieces of a golden statue ofDonkey Kong. Many of the pieces are submerged in toxic waste, but shooting the buttons on the walls can temporarily lower the toxic waste so that the pieces can be collected. Otherwise, if the player touches the toxic waste, the Gyrocopter will explode.
InDonkey Kong 64, there are pools of toxic waste[citation needed] referred to aslava[2] inCreepy Castle, specifically within the lobby, the dungeon, and the mausoleum.
