“Welcome to Towering Treetop! On this board, Stars cost 20 coins. Get to the Star Space to buy one! As soon as someone gets the Star from the Star Space, it’ll move somewhere else on the board. Use Orbs to get an edge over your rivals, and watch out for special ? Spaces!”
Brighton,Mario Party 6

Towering Treetop is a gameboard fromMario Party 6. It is centered around a large tree, surrounded by a few other trees, and a lake behind it. The board's ruleset is similar to the previousMario Party titles whereStars, which can be bought for 20 coins, randomly spawn on one of the several predetermined spots on the board. Once players buy a Star, it changes to one of the other locations. Once the Star is bought from all possible locations in the board, the order the Stars spawn repeats, making it easy to predict where the Stars spawn afterward. Although the board sports several paths players can take, all paths eventually lead to the slide that brings players back to the start of the board. Therefore, the section after the slide and the start is frequently traversed, albeit otherwise featureless, and it is a major spot for players to setCharacter Spaces viaOrbs (the beginning of this section also has anOrb Space). TheMetal Mushroom Orb does not spawn on this board, making Roadblocks placed on there particularly difficult to avoid.

The? Space behind the start forces the player to use a big feather to tickle the gianttree's nose in order to have it sneeze. If successful, the giant tree lets it out, causing other players to drop to lower parts of the board. Players on the far left, far right, and bottom of the board are unaffected. The ? Space left of the beehive gives players the choice to ride one of three fluffs for free. Whatever fluff they choose takes them to another part of the board. Landing on one of the three ? Spaces in front of the beehive triggers bees to come out and sting the player. Players lose coins depending on how many bees sting them. The ? Space at the top of the board has two functions, depending on what time of day it is. If it is day, the player seesWoody, who showerscoins on all the spaces and players. If it is night, he is replaced with his counterpart,Evil Woody, who makesSpiny eggs rain down on all spaces and players, who lose coins during the shower.

Other events happen depending on the time of day as well. During the daytime, the pink flower at the left of the board is in bloom, allowing players to reach the following spaces that they would not be able to reach by night. At night, that flower closes up, and the purple flower at the right side of the board blooms, allowing players to use the path that is inaccessible during the daytime.Pink Boo offers anyone who passes by it to steal coins or a star for them during the night as well. Players pay 5 coins for Pink Boo to take coins and 40 coins for Pink Boo to take a star from a player.

Notes[edit]

  • The concept of a player riding a fluff on this board was reused inWindmillville inMario Party 7, in which a player could ride a floating flower. Both involve choosing one of three options that will take the player to another part of the board. However, inMario Party 7, riding a floating flower costs 10 coins, while riding a fluff is free.
