Touchstones (also referred to asTouch Screen Platforms[1] andrainbow-colored blocks[2]) are objects inSuper Mario 3D World,Super Mario 3D World + Bowser's Fury, andCaptain Toad: Treasure Tracker (including both ofits ports). These movableplatforms can be activated by using theWii U GamePad, the touchscreen of theNintendo Switch in handheld mode, the button while using dual Joy-Con or a Pro Controller, or the
button while using single Joy-Con, as all of these methods summon the touch cursor. Tapping a Touchstone with the touch cursor causes it to move to a set position until it is touched a second time or the timer expires, which makes it return to its original state.
InSuper Mario 3D World andSuper Mario 3D World + Bowser's Fury, Touchstones also revert after a short time has passed. They are mainly purple and appear rarely, found only inPuffprod Peaks,Captain Toad Plays Peek-a-Boo, andCaptain Toad's Fiery Finale. InCaptain Toad: Treasure Tracker, Touchstones can be found in various colors and shapes and are more common, making their debut in the thirdlevel,Touchstone Trouble.
Touchstones appear in theCaptain Toad: Treasure Tracker microgame ofWarioWare: Get It Together! In the microgame, the player must push one of the Touchstones to create a slope forCaptain Toad to walk on, which leads to aPower Star. If the player pushes the wrong Touchstone, Captain Toad will be blocked, preventing him from obtaining the Power Star.
