Tosenbo[1] areenemies inSuper Mario Land 2: 6 Golden Coins. These spiked, slug-like creatures appear in thestar stage of theSpace Zone. Tosenbo inflate and deflate at a regular interval, but they are barely visible when they are not inflated. Tosenbo can be defeated only from aStar or afireball while they are inflated, because Tosenbo cannot be defeated while deflated at all. According to theShogakukan guide, they may be related toUnibo.[2] ThePerfect Ban Mario Character Daijiten uses a vertically flipped picture of Tosenbo for its entry.

Aim for the moment when it's squeezed.

A creature whose entire body is covered with spines, which swell and contract. You can't knock it down by stepping on it, so hurry through it at the moment it is squeezed. Fire will defeat it.
