"Toad's Factory"[1] is a musical theme inMario Kart Wii, where it plays inthe race course of the same name. The first seven seconds of the theme do not play at the start of the race. Instead, the theme restarts from the beginning when the player takes the large jump after the red room. This is the only course in the entireMario Kart series where this happens, therefore making it practically impossible to hear the entire theme under normal circumstances (unless one were to simply sit in place long enough for the theme to play through). The restart did not occur during the Toad's Factory tournament.

History[edit]

Mario Kart Wii[edit]

Mario Kart Wii marks the first appearance of "Toad's Factory". Additional clapping is added to instrumentation when the player is in the second room containing the alternatingconveyor belts. In the officialMario Kart Wii Platinum Soundtrack album, both the original version and the clapping remix are played in sequence on the same track, titled 「キノピオファクトリー」 (Kinopio Fakutorī, "Toad's Factory").

Mario Kart World[edit]

InMario Kart World, an arrangement of "Toad's Factory" plays when racing in the course of the same name. As withMario Kart Wii, the first seven seconds of the theme do not play in a traditional three-lap race. UnlikeMario Kart Wii, however, the theme no longer restarts from the beginning after the player leaves the red room. Instead, the full intro plays when reaching the course from aroute or during arally. The clapping remix fromMario Kart Wii is omitted, with the full arrangement instead playing throughout the entire course.

When approaching Toad's Factory from a route or during a rally before reaching the course's finish line, a simple prelude arrangement of "Toad's Factory" plays, featuring apiano melody over a backingelectric guitar. An additional arrangement of the prelude theme without the piano or the bass plays when starting the race in theAcorn Rally. InKnockout Tour, approaching the next course causes the theme to transition into acoda.
