Tilt-a-Kart is the final unlockable battle course inMario Kart: Double Dash!! It is unlocked by winningFlower Cup inMirror Mode.
The course is made up of giant tiles forming a sprite ofSmall Mario fromSuper Mario Bros. White tiles are the only tiles to affectkarts, specifically by slowing them. The course sometimes tilts, affecting the movement ofItem Boxes a la the dining room ofDaisy Cruiser. Unlike other battle courses, it is possible for players to fall off in Tilt-a-Kart, after whichLakitu places them on a small white platform to drive off of and re-enter the course. The arrow shown for this stage inShine Thief is green.
A unique music track plays in every mode exceptShine Thief. It begins with a short motif from theGround Theme fromSuper Mario Bros.; the rest of the song is a remastered version ofBaby Park's theme, with an addition of crash cymbals played throughout the music track, the backing piano chords being swapped for an organ, and said chords being in a lower inversion.
The concept of a platform resembling this Mario sprite divided into tiles was later used inToy Time Galaxy fromSuper Mario Galaxy andMario Squared Galaxy fromSuper Mario Galaxy 2. The course's background also somewhat resembles that of the secret courses inThe Secret of Ricco Tower andThe Hotel Lobby's Secret fromSuper Mario Sunshine.
