The Ultimate Test is the first mission of theGrandmaster Galaxy inSuper Mario Galaxy 2 and itsNintendo Switchport. The mission's objective is to simply reach the end of the galaxy.
Mission[edit]
The player starts on a platform with aYoshi Egg, and theYoshi Star Galaxy music plays. BreakingYoshi out of it, the player needs to use him to cross theflowers and avoid theSpace Mines,Paragoombas, andBullet Bills to reach theLaunch Star at the end. Next is a series ofFlipswitch Panels the player needs to activate while avoidingSentry Beams to create a Launch Star. In theElectric Maze Area, the music changes to the music played inthe first mission ofSky Station Galaxy. The player needs to utilize aCloud Flower power-up to ride the winds and avoid the electric barriers to reach the Launch Star at the end. Next is a path made up of disappearing andRed-Blue platforms withRoctos and spiked Sentry Beams, followed by blocks with electric rods moving along them. Afterward are a group ofPull Stars the player need to use to cross the chasm while avoiding more Paragoombas, Space Mines, and electrical barriers; to get to the Launch Star at the end of this area, the player needs to use the second to last Pull Star to propel themselves around the electric barrier. Finally, the music changes to theBowser's Galaxy Generator music. The player will have to cross platforms withHammer Bros. andBoomerang Bros. withFlomps bridging the gaps. Defeating the three Boomerang Bros. at the end will cause thePower Star to appear.
