The Secret Aquarium is one of the secret courses inSuper Mario 64 andSuper Mario 64 DS. The entrance to the course is to the right of thepainting intoJolly Roger Bay, through a small hole up above on the wall. The Secret Aquarium andThe Princess's Secret Slide are the only two hidden courses other than theBowser courses with the same name in both versions. While not physically changed inSuper Mario 64 DS, this course plays the full percussion variation of theDire, Dire Docks theme, which does not appear in the original version.

Layout and mission

The Secret Aquarium is a large fish tank filled withwater, so there is no place where the player character can surface for air. There are 40 Yellow Coins in rings withRed Coins in the center of the rings and on the room's floor, and collecting them prevents the character from losing all of his health. There is only onePower Star to collect, and it appears once the player has collected all eight of the Red Coins.
