"The Legend" is a two-page comic released in theSuper Mario Bros. comic series inSuper Mario Bros. Special Edition No. 1. It is a short adaption to the story ofSuper Mario Bros., explaining the backstory and how the Mario Bros. began their adventures as heroes.

Plot synopsis[edit]

In the magicalMushroom Kingdom, theMushroom People live in peace, ruled by theMushroom King andPrincess Toadstool, untilKing Bowser Koopa starts attacking and kidnaps Toadstool. WhenMario andLuigi hear Toadstool crying for help, they go to the Mushroom Kingdom and defeat Koopa, who vows to come back.
