Ten,Mario & Luigi: Brothership

Ten is a member of theExtension Corps underZokket inMario & Luigi: Brothership. He is a tall, lanky, purple miscreant whose design is based on audio connectors.[1] His head resembles a male connector jack, giving him the general appearance of a stereotypical Japanese delinquent, and his right arm resembles a female connector socket and functions as an arm cannon. His name comes from the second syllable of "extension" in reference to extension cords, withEcks andShun's names coming from the other two. He proclaims himself as the brains of the Extension Corps and he expresses a desire to overtake Zokket as "the boss".

According to one of theGrampy Turnips in theSoli-Tree, Ten is skilled at sorting out the garbage, as if he were a "recycling pro".

Battle[edit]

In battle, Ten attacks by creating a purple energy ball with his right arm and rides on it to ram into Mario and Luigi, who have to use hammer strikes to repel it. If the ball that Ten was riding on is hit enough times, the ball will vanish and he will fall. Ten can also fire shots from his arm cannon at a pentagonal formation of mirrors, with the shots bouncing around into the Bros. The Bros. must also use their hammers to block these projectiles. Ten can also summonSnaptors to his side and have them carry in objects that must be dodged. In this fight, Ten is a level 14 enemy with around 700hit points, and his defeat nets 450EXP, 189coins, and a set ofSturdy Wear.[2]

After Ten's defeat, he drops twoPower Taps and theBattle Plugs Kaboom Attack and Easy-Peasy Counters. Ten immediately engages the Bros. in another battle, which serves as a tutorial for Battle Plugs. Mario and Luigi must first counter Ten's mirror-shot attack with Easy-Peasy Counters, then attack Ten with Kaboom Attack to damage him and the Snaptors he summons. Ten then flees the battle without giving any EXP nor coins.

When Mario and Luigi battle all three members of the Extension Corps inFortress Zokket, Ten uses the same attacks as before and gains new attacks where he jumps in front of a Bro. and tries to smash him with his connector head, followed by him shooting an energy ball from his arm cannon. These can be chained, and are followed by a spin attack as Ten produces an energy blade and spins at a Bro., who must repel him with a hammer strike. Ten does not summon Snaptors in this fight.

Shun later reveals that the Extension Corps also have their ownBattle Plugs:

  • The three start off with the HUUUGE Iron Ball plug, causing iron balls to fall on a Bros' head if they take damage, which must be repelled with hammer. The plug will sometimes cause iron balls to drop above the Extension Corps as well.
  • Next is the PunishMush plug, causing the Bros. to take damage if they eat aMushroom.Snoutlet warns to not use any plugs that involves mushrooms.
  • Afterwards is the Theme Song plug. The trio dances and powers up.
  • After taking enough damage, the corps use the Single-Minded plug, giving the trio a combo attack: Ecks dashes into the Bros. from the side, Ten fires shots from his arm cannon, and Shun punches a punching bag. All three must be jumped over, with the exception of the punching bag which must be repelled via hammer strike. In addition to gaining the combo attack, they all combine whatever health they have remaining, and if one member takes damage, all three take damage. If the trio is countered after using the Single-Minded plug, they become frustrated with the shared damage and briefly attack themselves.
  • The final and last resort is the Invincible plug, causing the trio to become invincible for one turn before an explosion erupts from each of them. The explosion can have its damage reduced or negated withEmergency Block or the Protectus or Notdroppin plugs, and can be avoided entirely with aBoo Biscuit, but it cannot be dodged.[3] Should the Bros. survive the explosion, the Extension Corps will then be defeated.

Each member drops 5700 Experience Points and 450 Coins (for totals of 17100 and 1350, respectively), and Ten has a Max Nut included in his loot drop. Each member's HP is also hidden, unlike most other enemies.
