Tane Pakkun arePiranha Plants originating inMario vs. Donkey Kong. They appear inDonkey Kong Jungle andMystic Forest. Tane Pakkun are extremely similar to theDōryī enemies inDonkey Kong forGame Boy, except they are Piranha Plants rather than generic flower monsters and will damageMario upon direct contact. Their seeds shoot horizontally at intervals and can also damage Mario.
In the GBA version, Tane Pakkun resemble thePiranha Plants' design inSuper Mario Sunshine, only without the leaves and the lower half of the stem. In theNintendo Switchremake, Tane Pakkun are redesigned into mechanical-looking toyFire Piranha Plants. Therefore, their seed projectiles have been replaced with fireballs, which function identically.
