Tall Trunk Galaxy is one of the many galaxies in the gameSuper Mario Galaxy 2 and itsNintendo Switchport. The level takes place in a peaceful forest with a huge tree. The tree has many branches which can be climbed to reach the top. This galaxy introduces theBlimp Fruit. Manyprickly plants appear to hinder the player andSpoings are common enemies here. TheWhittle species resides here. The music that plays in the slide segments is an arrangement of "Slider" fromSuper Mario 64.

Planets[edit]

The titles of the following subsections are from an official source, but are based ondevelopment data such as an internal filename, unless otherwise noted.
If anacceptable public name is found for a given section, then that section should be changed to the new title.

Big Tree Planet[edit]

A planet in Tall Trunk Galaxy
Mario approaching the Big Tree Planet.

The Big Tree Planet[1] is the starting planet in the galaxy. Here, the player will land on the base of an enormous tree. During theThe Flotacious Blimp Fruit mission,Yoshi can be found on the bottom of the planet as well as numerousCrystals withStar Bits andcoins.Spoings andSpanglers appear on the tree during the said mission and only a singleWhittle appears. The use ofBlimp Yoshi is required to reach theLaunch Star. During theTall Trunk's Big Slide mission, Yoshi is not found nor Spoings and Spanglers. The player will need to use theVines to get to the top of the tree and to the Launch Star. A significant amount of Whittles can be found here during the said mission. It is possible to climb up the big tree without Yoshi by using different jumps, wall jumps, and spins.

Wood Drum Planet[edit]

A planet in Tall Trunk Galaxy
Mario nearing the Wood Drum Planet.

The Wood Drum Planet[1] is a large log, and is the next site for the player to arrive from the Big Tree Planet duringThe Flotacious Blimp Fruit mission. Here, the player and Yoshi will move around the planet in side-scrolling effect to collect five yellowStar Chips and create anotherLaunch Star. ACheckpoint Flag, aComet Medal and someBlimp Fruit are also found on the planet.Prickly plants can prove to be a nuisance when collecting the Star Chips. This planet has an up and down rotational gravity field, so Mario cannot fall off this planet.

Wood Circle Cut Planet[edit]

A planet in Tall Trunk Galaxy
Mario quite a distance away from the Wood Circle Cut Planet.

The Wood Circle Cut Planet[1] is a huge section of a trunk with a passage in it where the player arrives. Here, the heroes find another Midway Flag,Star Bits and Blimp Berries. Just as in the Wood Drum Planet, the exploration in this planet is in a side-scrolling manner. InThe Flotacious Blimp Fruit mission, there is aPower Star that Mario must get by going up in the passage with the help of Yoshi eating the Blimp Fruits, while evading some obstacles such as theParagoombas and prickly plants.

Tube Slider Start Planet[edit]

The Tube Slider Start Planet[1] is a grassy platform on top of a large tree, connected to a giant, half-hollowed log where three Whittles and the access to the Tube Slider Course are found.

Tube Slider Course[edit]

The Tube Slider Course[1] is a long, winding hollow trunk.Wigglers andprickly plants can be found here. There are a fewSpinies in the beginning and many gaps in the slide, as well as manyballoons scattered throughout. This planet is first visited in the galaxy's second mission,Tall Trunk's Big Slide. At the end of the slide, the player will land on the Tube Slider Goal Planet, and be rewarded with aPower Star, depending on the mission's requirements.

Tube Slider Goal Planet[edit]

The Tube Slider Goal Planet[1] is found directly at the end of the Tube Slider Course Planet, and has nothing more than three Whittles and a few giant trees. WhenMario lands here, a Whittle (or aGearmo, during the purple coin mission) will reward him with thePower Star for that mission. This planet also appears in the credits, and once one has gained 120 Power Stars or more, aBee Mushroom will appear on it too, alongside four Whittles.
