Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze levels

Swinger Flinger is the temple level ofLost Mangroves inDonkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze and its Nintendo Switchport of the same name, and the first temple level in the game. The level focuses on platforming with vines and avoidingspike traps. As with all temple levels in the game andDonkey Kong Country Returns, Swinger Flinger features no checkpoint booths.

The music that plays in this level, and every second temple level after it, is a cover of the latter half of the "DK Island Swing" theme that first plays inJungle Hijinxs in the originalDonkey Kong Country.

InTime Attack mode, a time of 1:31.00 is required to get a gold medal, a time of 1:42.00 for silver, and a time of 1:55.00 for bronze.

Overview[edit]

In the first part of the level, the Kongs must jump between severalswinging vines to get across the bottomless pit, while also avoiding thefireballs shot byHot Hootzes below. The Kongs will then encounter more obstacles, including platforms that, once landed on, will start to roll along a track, and platforms suspended by ropes, which will burn and cause the platforms to fall once the Kongs make contact with one. There are also stationary spiked obstacles and swinging vines with spikes the Kongs must avoid by ducking or jumping over them, depending on the situation.

After the halfway point, the Kongs will need to climb up some static vines to proceed further, while avoiding spikes that extend and retract from the walls. When the Kongs reach a series of four vines, they are forced to jump between them to avoid the spikes falling from the ceiling while climbing up. In the final section, the Kongs must swiftly jump from vine to vine (and occasionally on someHootzes), as there is a moving boulder at the top that will cause any wooden beam suspending a vine it rolls over to collapse. After that, the Kongs will reach the final vine leading to theBarrel Cannon, which blasts them to the end of the stage, where themysterious relic is held.

Puzzle Pieces[edit]

  1. Above some spikes on the second rail platform.
  2. Revealed after pulling the plug underneath the firstswinging vine completely covered with spikes.
  3. Above a Hootz between the retracting spikes.
  4. Revealed after collecting all of the collectibles that appear in succession between the four vines.
  5. Inside thepurple glass vase just before the end of the stage. It can be broken by pounding next to it.

This error is not present in the Japanese versions ofSuper Smash Bros. for Wii U andSuper Smash Bros. Ultimate.
