Super Troopas are a variety ofTroopas and elite soldiers inKing Koopa's army. They are larger than standard Troopas, and much stronger, but are rather dim-witted and somewhat clumsy. Super Troopas are only ever seen during a few select episodes ofThe Super Mario Bros. Super Show!

The first appearance of a Super Troopa is in the episode "Mario and Joliet," where an individual one namedGrunt is employed by King Koopa to trapMario,Luigi,Princess Toadstool,Toad andRomano in a tower withJoliet. Grunt is then ordered to keep an eye on the captives, but is interested in lifting weights. Toad and Princess Toadstool use the opportunity to convince Grunt that they had seen stronger Troopas than him, and ultimately trick him into holding up too many weights. The concentrated weight of Grunt and the weights lead to the floor breaking beneath Grunt's feet, which results in him falling through it.

The second and final appearance of Super Troopas is in "Star Koopa," where they take on the guise ofStormtroopas, along with many Troopas. They are only seen when Darth Koopa orders his Stormtroopas to invade theFlying Pizza, and fights against Mario's group withLightplungers, but are eventually defeated. It is unknown if any of the Stormtroopas that are later piloting theStormtroopa Starfighters in an attempt to defendKoop Star are Super Troopas.
