“Sugar Loaf Mountain stands on the left side of Rio's great balloon-shaped bay. Two cable cars carry visitors 1300 meters[sic] above both the city and Guanabara Bay. Once atop the mountain, visitors can get off at the lower vista and watch samba troupes perform at cliffside restaurants, or they can go all the way to the top. From that height the city spreads out below like a carpet of lights. The granite mountain got its name from Portuguese sailors who swore it resembled the cone-shaped loaves of sugar processed from Brazilian sugar cane.”
Pamphlet,Mario is Missing!

Sugarloaf Mountain (in Portuguese:Pão de Açúcar) is a peak at the bay ofRio de Janeiro, Brazil.

SNES
Sugarloaf Mountain in DOS,CD-ROM Deluxe and SNES versions.

During the events of thePC andSNES versions ofMario is Missing!,Luigi finds acable car that was stolen from Sugarloaf Mountain (formatted asSugar Loaf Mountain) byKoopas. The cable car is needed to get visitors to the top of the mountain. Before returning the cable car to Sugar Loaf Mountain'sCurator, Luigi has to correctly answer some questions to prove its authenticity. Upon delivering it back, Luigi is rewarded a prize of 2,250 dollars.

  • Tourists can scale the mountain by:
    • mountain goat
    • trolley car
    • downhill skis
    • subway
  • Sugar Loaf got its name from:
    • Hawaiian sugar growers
    • Portuguese sailors
    • samba troupes
    • Brazilian meat loaf
  • What's the name of the bay to the east of Sugar Loaf?
    • Guanabara Bay
    • Sugar Loaf Bay
    • Samba Bay
    • Rio de Janeiro Bay

The pamphlet wrongly states that Sugar Loaf Mountain is 1300 meters high; the correct measure would be 1300 feet, which is only about 400 meters.
