Stretch Shrooms^[1] are a type ofMushroom Platform in theSuper Mario series. Their characteristic behavior is contracting and expanding at constant intervals, pulling anything and anyone on the ends of the platforms to the center when they contract. Stretch Shrooms have little differences between their appearances aside from some design changes.

History[edit]

New Super Mario Bros.[edit]

Stretch Shrooms first appear inNew Super Mario Bros., where they are blue. They are encountered inWorld 5-A only.

New Super Mario Bros. Wii[edit]

Stretch Shrooms return inNew Super Mario Bros. Wii, behaving the same as inNew Super Mario Bros., though they are now colored pink. They appear only inWorld 4-5.

New Super Mario Bros. 2[edit]

Stretch Shrooms reappear inNew Super Mario Bros. 2, behaving identically to previous games. They appear inWorld 6-3 and thethird level of theGold Mushroom Pack.

New Super Mario Bros. U /New Super Mario Bros. U Deluxe[edit]

Stretch Shrooms appear yet again inNew Super Mario Bros. U andits reissue. Their behavior is largely unchanged from their past appearances. They are encountered in the levelsDry Desert Mushrooms,Seesaw Shrooms, andWorld Coin-3, reprising the second aforementioned role in the challengeRickety Sprint. Stretch Shrooms are among the very few objects that do not return inNew Super Luigi U.
