Sticker Comet

TheSticker Comet is an important object inPaper Mario: Sticker Star. It comes from theSticker Star and falls toMushroom Kingdom annually, with its arrival corresponding to the annualSticker Fest. As part of the Sticker Fest, everyone wishes on the Sticker Comet. The comet is said to make those wishes come true, but the forces that grant the wishes are actually theRoyal Stickers within the comet.Kersti is the caretaker of the Royal Stickers, and also resides within the comet. People are not supposed to touch the Sticker Comet. Since the Sticker Comet and the Royal Stickers both come from the Sticker Star, they are drawn to each other by the Sticker Star's power.
In the opening cutscene of the game, a storybook relays some of the above information to the player. It excludes the Sticker Star, the Royal Stickers, Kersti, and the note about not touching the Sticker Comet, but does say the comet "falls from beyond the sky". The Sticker Comet comes down to the Sticker Fest grounds inDecalburg, stopping at at a small fenced in pedestal on the stage.Princess Peach is on-stage, and presents the comet to an audience consisting ofToads andMario. However,Bowser barges into the Sticker Fest and manages to touch the Sticker Comet despite three Toads attempting to stop him. This causes the comet to rise into the air and explode, shattering into manypieces. Those pieces and five out of the six Royal Stickers fall across the Mushroom Kingdom. The last Royal Sticker drifts back down and sticks to Bowser's head. He uses the power it grants to destroy the Sticker Fest grounds, though most of this happens offscreen.
In the aftermath of the chaos, Kersti is stuck to a Sticker Fest sign. After Mariopeels her off, she accuses him of having touched the Sticker Comet and berates him over the danger caused by touching the Sticker Comet. When Mario explains that Bowser touched the Sticker Comet, she then assumes Mario is trying to blame Bowser. She calms down after Mario says he will help her find the Royal Stickers, and explains most of the remaining properties of the Sticker Comet. While the initial goal is just to find the Royal Stickers, upon noticing the first Comet Piece inWarm Fuzzy Plains, Kersti realizes and explains that the connection between the Sticker Comet and the Royal Stickers means collecting the Comet Pieces will lead her and Mario to the Royal Stickers.
After Mario defeats Bowser and obtains the final Royal Sticker inBowser's Sky Castle, he uses the power of all of the Royal Stickers to make a wish that is not described to the player. When the cutscene resumes, a new Sticker Fest starts at the fully repaired Sticker Fest grounds, and the Sticker Comet is present. Bowser attempts to touch the comet again, but Kersti prevents him from doing so.
WhenPaper Mario: Sticker Star is loading its title screen, it shows a black screen with the game's name. On this screen, the Sticker Comet appears off the right side, lands in the lower left corner after one bounce, floats, then flies up and off the screen as the game finishes loading.
